Routine Checks During PregnancyOnce you become pregnant, you need to take good care of your health. And you need to be in constant touch with your doctor to be able to allow him to monitor your health conditions and those of your baby. There are many routine checks that doctors will do on regular basis to determine your health and the health of your baby. Of course, it is very important for you to try to understand the meaning of these tests and whether some of the tests are actually necessary or not. However, since having a baby is such an important event in your life, it is always better to undergo the routine tests that your doctor advices you to have, even if it is just for the sake of knowing that everything is okay. It is very reassuring to know that everything is fine, especially since you cannot really prepare yourself for all the symptoms that you may experience during a pregnancy. Even if you are a person that has had other children in the past, a new pregnancy does not usually follow the same patterns as the previous one, and you will find yourself wandering as to why is it that you are having a different pain somewhere or you can even worry as to why are you feeling so hungry this time. Routine checks during pregnancy will include blood tests that are done at the beginning of your pregnancy to determine whether your baby is at risk of having any kind of infection or blood related disease like hepatitis, or some sexually transmitted disease or if you are having HIV as well. Some antibodies like chicken pox can also create birth defects on the baby and these have to be checked at the beginning of the pregnancy. Many women suffer from anemia, even before they are pregnant, and this can cause premature birth and other birth defects for your child, therefore a blood test to make sure that you are not having any deficiencies is considered to be routine during the whole of your pregnancy. Urine tests are also considered to be routine checks to find out whether you are having any kind of urinary tract infections. These infections can affect the baby in many adverse manners and therefore it is very important to treat them immediately. Also, high amounts of protein in your urine may not be very good for you when you are advancing in your pregnancy as these can result in conditions like high blood pressure during the advanced stages or during the time of delivery and this can prove to be very dangerous for the mother and the baby as well. There are many routine checks that are done either once at the beginning of your pregnancy or those that needs to be continued on regular basis to monitor the health of the mother to be and of the baby. These tests play a very important role in creating a relaxed and healthy environment for all concerned. |
