Accurate Pregnancy Test

Generally ladies, if they feel that they are pregnant, will be very eager to confirm the pregnancy as soon as possible. They become restless and never wait for an appointment with a doctor. Instead they try to perform a home pregnancy test of their own to have the privacy and expecting no one to know about their pregnancy. Home pregnancy test if not done properly will lead to lot of errors in the test results. Here are the few guidelines to ensure an accurate home pregnancy test.

Follow the instructions

Different Home Pregnancy Tests are available in the market. They differ in their usage and effectiveness. Along with the pregnancy kit, an instruction manual is also provided by the vendor. This manual clearly explains how to perform a test. It is always advised not to perform the test without following the instructions. This is because every vendor has different instructions on how to use the kit.

Problems in Urine Tests

The amount of hCG in urine is very low compared to the amount found in the blood. Thus urine tests have some restrictions compared to blood. In certain cases when the lady is not able to urinate at the time of the test, she may drink more water in order to urinate soon. This is not advised because drinking too much of water will dilute the amount of hCG in the urine which will make the detection of hCG in urine very difficult for the pregnancy test kit. Another issue concerning the urine test is that, the test should be done during the morning hours. This is because during the morning hours, the amount of hCG will be more in the bladder. Thus tests conducted during  morning hours will rarely show false results.

Use the Pregnancy Test Kit only Once

The pregnancy test kits are meant for usage only once. Once the test is performed, it should be thrown. Incase the test shows a false result, we should not re use the same kit once again in order to perform the test. Re using the test again may show inconsistent results which cannot be trusted.

Other Issues

hCG level in a pregnant lady increases as days progress. Thus if the lady performs the pregnancy test after two or three weeks, she can get the correct results. There are some sensitive home pregnancy tests which are able to detect even the smallest amount of hCG. These kits are in demand if the women needs to perform the test days after she conceive. If she is performing a test in a latter stage, it does not matter whether she uses a high sensitive pregnancy kit or an ordinary cheap kit. Also it is always advised to get the pregnancy kits which has not expired because these kits will not show consistent results.
