EPT Early Pregnancy Test

The EPT stands for Early Pregnancy test in 1978. This was the first test to come into market. As there has been tremendous research and advancements in this field, EPT has been known today as Error Proof Test. In those days only EPT was home pregnancy test kit so, the women did not have much choice as to select which pregnancy test kit. Though the EPT pregnancy kit is old it was able to detect the pregnancy with sensitivity of 40mIU. Though comparing the fast response pregnancy tests, this test was not the best test with regards to the time taken to detect the pregnancy. But it has a good reputation as one of the cheap and more reliable form of home pregnancy test kit.

Digital Home pregnancy tests

Nowadays the home pregnancy test kits has gone digital with the introduction of the clear blue digital pregnancy test kit. Women are able to infer the test results without reading the instructions provided with the kit. The test kit has a digital display which shows in English “pregnant” or “ not pregnant” based upon the test results. If the test results positive then pregnant is shown in the digital display. This has avoided a lot of confusion since women no longer need to look for the faded line on the strip. Some of the non digital pregnancy test kits are also easy to use. One such kit shows a positive mark when the test results positive.

EPT versus Latest Home Pregnancy Tests

Today EPT has been a history. Today women are not able imagine how it would be to wait for 2 hours to get the results for the pregnancy test. More over the test was also very difficult to perform with lots of procedures. The urine has to be taken in a cup and it should be poured into  test tube and mixed with a medical dropper. Latter on the blood cells of sheep should be added into the test tube. This concentration has to be left un disturbed for two hours in a dark place. After two hours results are seen through a mirror placed under the test tube. If a dark ring is formed, then it shows that existence of pregnancy.

Comparing the olden days today women has become very lazy. They need not bother about anything while performing the home pregnancy test. In just 5 minutes they are able to get the test results of their own which is remarkable advancement during the past 30 years.
