Why Your Home Pregnancy Test May give a False Positive

In Home Pregnancy tests, it is guaranted that the results will be always a true output but there are rarely chances for the tests to fail. This may cause due to many reasons. Some of the reasons which cause the home pregnancy to fail are mentioned below in this article.

Testing at wrong time

hCG is the hormone around which the entire pregnancy tests revolve.hCG is produced by the placenta during the time of pregnancy. This hormone will be present in small quantity in blood and urine during the initial stages of pregnancy. The pregnancy tests usually detect the amount of hCG available in the urine or blood to test for pregnancy. In Pregnancy Tests which tests on urine, it is advised to do the test during the morning hours to get a positive output. This is because during the morning hours, the urine gets stored with maximum amount of hCG.

Interpreting Tests Results

During the pregnancy tests, it is advised to strictly follow the guidelines given by the pregnancy test kit. This kit include instructions regarding, when to interpret the results. There are chances that the pregnancy tests shows negative results. In such cases it is advised not to wait for some more time and look for the results. This is because after a certain period of time, due to evaporation the color on the pregnancy test strips change which makes us feel as if the test is positive. As a result we come into false conclusion. Thus it is advised not to use the strip again and again if the tests fail to show a positive results. Instead perform a new test.

Chemical Pregnancy

Chemical pregnancy is a peculiar type of pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy the fertilized egg starts producing the hCG and grows in the uterus. Some times there are chances that the fertilized egg attach to the uterus and produces the hCG and stops its growth. Chemical pregnancy occurs 30-40% of times. This type of pregnancy was not detected previously by the home pregnancy tests. Thus people was not aware of this type of pregnancy.Today this pregnancy could be detected by some high sensitivity home pregnancy tests. These home pregnancy tests are able to detect evn the smallest amount of hCG in the urine or blood.

Effects of Fertility Drugs

Another common cause for the home pregnancy tests to show false results is the usage of the some fertility drugs. These drugs will affect the pregnancy tests that is conducted during days of the injection of the fertility drug. Thus it is advised not to take up the pregnancy tests at least one or two week after these fertility drugs has been injected.
