Statistics on Infertile Couples

If you are worried about not conceiving early then there are many like you who face the same problem and you can find statistic report on such other couples.

What does the statistic report say?

Getting pregnant at the first try is common but then statistically speaking this varies greatly and doctors see nothing wrong until you have failed to conceive for at least six to eight months of continuous trying especially if you are above 35 years, though for couples below 35 years the doctors would wait for over a year before they are checked for fertility related problems.

In United States there are roughly around 7.3 million people who suffer from infertility related problems. There are many reasons related to infertility like age, weight either over weight or under weight, untreated STDs etc. In women the most common reason being PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome where the immature follicles clamp together in the ovaries to form lumps or cysts which do not break open to release the egg for fertilization. If you are suffering from this problem you will have irregular periods or you may miss out on your monthly menstrual cycle and this problem affects almost 10% of the American women.

Though most of the time women are blamed for not conceiving it is not necessarily her fault as in 30% of the cases even men have fertility related problems and in around 20% cases both male and female together face fertility related problems. Until and unless both the partners get themselves tested it becomes highly impossible to find the cause of not conceiving.

Not conceiving can lead to a number of other psychological problems like depression, anxiety, sadness, grief etc. Women especially are prone to depression if they find themselves unable to conceive. Counseling is the best way to bring them out of depression as this can cause mental instability.

What are the ways to check if I’m infertile?
