Pregnancy Journal

The pregnancy test has turned out positive! You are surprised and happy…Here is a pregnancy journal so that you shouldn’t loose yourself in the middle of this great adventure which is about to begin. Find out everything that happens to you and to your baby, step by step, until the ‘face to face’ meeting occurs.

First month. Your little one is in the embryo phases. During the 4th week, he has the nervous system, the blood vessels and the heart completed (the heart begins to beat during the 25th week). In the 3rd week, your baby has a dimension of exactly 1 millimeter, in the 5th week - 2mm and in the 7th week – 2.5 mm. As far as your external changes are concerned, your breast becomes more sensitive; you begin to have nauseas, especially in the morning, and you feel tired no matter how much you sleep. These are all results of hormonal changes and metabolism acceleration.

Second month. Your baby begins to develop. He is disproportional and his hands and legs grow longer. He begins to move but you still can’t feel it. Your uterus has the dimension of a tangerine and grows constantly. You continue having nauseas (you even vomit), and extreme tiresome. There can appear excessive salivation, cramps and pins and needles.

Third month. In this stage the embryo has become fetus already. His face looks more and more humanly and his vocal cords develop. The placenta also develops in order to protect and to nourish the baby. In the 12th week he weights 45 grams and measures 10 cm. At the end of the month you stop having nauseas and that awful tiresome. Your uterus has the dimension of a grapefruit. A brown line appears between the navel and pubis and your nipples become darker.

Fourth month. The risk of loosing the pregnancy has significantly diminished. Your baby is rather well proportioned and well developed; he even has finger prints and his liver begins to function. The baby reaches 200 g and 19 cm. You are feeling great. You begin to fell the baby’s moves which become stronger as the pregnancy develops. Your uterus has the dimension of a yellow watermelon and you belly grows day by day. Massage your skin with a moisturizing cream in order to avoid itches and wrinkles. Your sex appetite is at his highest level, so enjoy it.

Fifth month. The sex organs are already formed, therefore, you can find out which is the gender of your child. You begin to get accustomed with your baby schedule (his sleeping and playing hours). In the 22nd week he weights 500g and measures 26 cm. You begin to get tired more easily: the extra effort that your heart makes in order to pump the increased blood volume and your extra kilos are the main cause of this. You also begin to have thicker legs and most probably varicose veins appear. Your gums are now more sensitive and bleed more easily.

Sixth month. Your baby is extremely active. He does between 20 and 60 moves within a half an hour. His lungs grow bigger but they are not fully developed. In the 26th week he has 900 g and 33 cm. He has fine hearing and loves to listen to you. Talk to him as much as you can and you’ll be extremely surprised to see how he recognizes your voice after the birth. Your belly has considerably grown while your spinal column and shanks feel it. Your uterus is now the size of a football ball and starts to press upon the urinary bladder. Therefore, you will go often to the toilet.

Seventh month. During the 30th week your baby reaches 1500g and 37 cm. He grows rapidly and his weight will double until the birth. His senses are now almost completely developed. He can taste the food you eat, so be careful! His stomach and intestine begins to function and he begins to change his position up side down (he prepares himself for the birth). Your reflex acuteness diminishes. You breathe harder and harder and you have sleeping problems because of your big belly.

Eight month. Your baby’s skin becomes thicker and pinker. The brain and the nervous system are now fully developed. In the 34th week he has 2200 g and 43 cm. As much as you are concerned, you have problems in finding the right and comfortable position. You have sleeping problems and you urinate a lot.

Ninth month. He begins to move more rarely and gains approximately 30 g a day. His head starts to press upon the cervix. In the 38th week he weights 3300g and measures 50 cm. You feel like a giant; you no longer have patience and feel extremely tired. Relax and rest… When your ‘water brakes’ you begin to have painful contractions which succeed themselves at every 10 minutes. Keep your calm and breathe deeply. Within a few hours you will meet you little one.
