Missing A Birth Control Pill Increases The Chances Of Pregnancy?

If you are trying to avoid the chances of pregnancy while actively being involved in sexual intercourses, it is necessary to properly take care of the intake of birth control pills at right time because if you miss a birth control pill or take it at wrong time, it will certainly increase your chances of conceiving a baby to an extent. Yet, do not worry too much, the chances will not be increased to too high levels. In general it depends on the time when you missed the pill, when you took the last pill and when did you took the next pill. One may take the next dose as soon as they remember that they have missed the last dose. However, one should not take double dose and if they are looking to take double dose, they may consider discussing with their doctors or midwife. One should take a pill after every 24 hours. In case you miss your pills consecutively for two or more days, then the chances of your being pregnant will increase to high levels specially when no other alternative for contraception was not used. One should adopt and follow a routine of taking the pills at right time strictly.

Some of the tips that may prove to be helpful to maintain a schedule of taking up the pills are

Make a routine of taking a pill everyday at the same time of the day either before eating lunch or dinner or after it. In case a woman fails or forgets to take the birth control pills continuously for two or more days, she must go for alternative methods to reduce the chances of conceiving. If the woman aligns the routine of taking pills with some other daily routine habit (as taking dinner or lunch) then the chances of missing a pill reduces to much extent. There should be extra supply of birth control pills in the home all the time so that one may just not miss a pill because there was no pill and then she forgot. In case a woman has been prescribed to take some antibiotics or herbal supplements, then she should discuss with her doctor about some alternative methods of birth control and contraceptives.

Proper discussion with your family doctor or an expert gynaecologist not only increases your understanding about the birth control pills and the alternative methods of contraception; they also provide a way to remember about the intake of a pill everyday without any mistake.

Even if a girl is just 12 hours late in taking her regular daily anti-pregnancy pills, her chances of getting impregnated will increase. Also, if the woman has missed one of the first 21 pills in the birth control pills box, her chances will increase dramatically to conceive a baby, so she needs to consult with doctor for alternative methods of contraception. In case you remember that you missed your anti-pregnancy pill within the first 24 hours, the best thing you should do is to immediately take the pill.
