Green Tea For Pregnant Women

So, do you like tea? Most of us like to drink tea or coffee, but if someone consults with their doctor or they check some scientific health magazine regularly, then they may come across the fact that by drinking green tea, pregnant women may harm themselves and may create risks for their newly evolving child in their womb. Pregnant woman need to be careful about their habit of drinking green tea through direct intake or through any other supplements that offers green tea as an constituent. A particular ingredient compound EGCG which is predominantly found in green tea is very harmful for pregnant women and may cause various complications. The EGCG is able to affect the folate and its usage by the body of a pregnant lady.

It would be very difficult to exactly state that how much amount of the popular green tea can be termed as safe for consumption by the women who are pregnant. There are also some doubts about green tea being a danger for the pregnant women. In addition with EGCG, the green tea also contains a significant amount of caffeine. A lot many scientific studies from time to time have confirmed that caffeine is not good for the health of pregnant ladies and it may also affect the child still in the womb of mothers who are in habit of taking green tea regularly. Caffeine is very dangerous for pregnant women and it may cause miscarriages or still birth in certain women. In addition, those women who are in habit of taking large amount of caffeine through green tea or any other measure may also case risks for their babies too. high caffeine consumption may cause risks of giving birth to a premature baby with very little weight. In general, it has been observed that the health of a newly borne and delivered baby in hospital depends largely on the amount of caffeine or green tea she is in habit of intake. And if the the intake of caffeine is high, it will certainly affect health of the child.

On the other hand, it is also suggested by some scientific researches that are published in common science magazines that moderate amount of green tea or caffeine may not cause very much complication in the pregnant woman and the newly evolving child in her womb. Also, some scientific researchers also suggest that the intake of two cups of green tea in a day by pregnant women may reduce the chances of development of cancer cells in her body.

Thus, one can suggest that although the large amounts of caffeine or green tea by a pregnant woman may cause problems in her, may cause miscarriage or fetal injury, yet, if controlled amount of green tea or caffeine is taken, the same green tea may prove to be a shield for the woman against the deadly cancer of tissues or cells. The major difficulty is, there is no proper suggestion about how much green tea can be considered as safe to be taken by a pregnant woman.
