Issue Of Milk Blisters

Some women suffer the overgrowth of the epidermal skin at the nipples of their breasts and that is known as Milk Blister or bleb or nipple blister. In reality, this overgrowth is due to the milk under the skin and it generally appears white or yellow dot in color on the nipple. Women suffering from this overgrowth of epidermal skin often suffer pain and inflammation and these milk blisters may stay for longer periods of weeks. Such type of situation occurs when a certain amount of milk gets trapped in the milk ducts of the breasts of the woman. A milk blister often gets inflammation and then it turns out to be excruciatingly painful. There can be a lot of causes for the trapping or clotting of milk in the milk ducts that gives rise to milk blisters. Some women suffer milk blisters because improper ways of breastfeeding and also, inundated milk may also cause milk blisters, hence proper breast feeding would avoid the chances of the pain through milk blisters. Further, improper way of breast feeding may cause pressure on nipple by sucking or applying teeth to latch the nipples and that may cause nipple blisters. The pressure of thrust may block the milk ducts and that gives rise to milk blisters. It would be good to take proper medication and help from a professional doctor in case you suffer milk blisters but in addition, you may apply these treatments too.

Treatment for Milk Blisters

  • The very first step of treatment for milk blisters is the woman suffering from nipple blisters should take enough break or rest from breastfeeding. But, the mother should not stop breastfeeding completely. She should try to feed the baby in such a way that may not tempt the baby to take the milk blister in his or her mouth. This will allow a relief for the mother from any pain due to milk blister.
  • A good way to reduce pain due to the milk blister is proper massaging. Employ proper massage on your nipples and breasts two times a day. Proper massage will help you attain better clearance of the milk ducts in your breasts. Women may take their husband’s or boyfriend’s help in massaging their breasts properly as proper massage will certainly provide relief.
  • In order to get rid of the pain due to milk blisters, the woman may also try for a warm water shower. Also, if the woman will keep nursing her child regularly, it will also help her in curing the milk blister as the suckling of the nipples will also clear the milk ducts.
  • some women use breast pumps and that may lead to the rise of milk blisters. It would be better if women use proper high quality breast pumps and they must know how to use a breast pump in perfect way as that would avoid the chances of nipple blisters.
  • Sometimes, the women suffer unbearable pain due to milk blisters, she may use pain killers.
