Constipation During Pregnancy

Expectant pregnant mothers may suffer some problems such as constipation during pregnancy. The constipation is caused as a result of the drastic and heavy hormonal changes the body of a woman undergoes during the pregnancy. The woman may suffer constipation or related problems during any period of pregnancy. The main cause of constipation is the extra water that the body of mother retains. Because of the growth and development of the child in the womb, the digestive system of the woman become more and more unhelpful and that also increases the chances of constipation.

In the period of first trimester, the pregnant woman may suffer a low appetite and lesser desire to eat properly. This leads to gastric problems in the stomach of the pregnant lady and ultimately, these gastric problems leads to constipation. Some women may suffer constipation as a result of the medicines they are consuming during the pregnancy. Some women also take iron and calcium pills and that add to problem of constipation. Often doctors suggest to increase the fiber content in the diet of the pregnant women as it help them to resist constipation. Furthermore, there are some more easy ways to cure the issues of constipation during pregnancy.

Remedies one can do at home to avoid constipation during pregnancy

One should take enough amounts of drinks to keep themselves hydrated during the pregnancy. So take as much water, juices and other liquids which will help to hydrate the body. The major reason of constipation is the dehydration a woman may suffer during pregnancy. If the body of the woman doesn’t have enough water to loosen the stool, she would suffer problems in emptying their bowels. A pregnant woman should drink 2 or more glasses of warm water in the morning and that will help her in feeling better throughout the day. Also, the more water a pregnant woman will drink the more chances of removal all/any toxic material from her body will be there.

Pregnant woman should eat fruits and vegetables that are rich in fiber such as carrot, spinach, banana, oranges, grapes, plumps etc. These fruits certainly help in removing or emptying the stool from bowels and provide an ease in cases of constipation. Using ginger or ginger powder in the daily diet will also help a lot. Ginger helps in attaining better digestion and it also removes gas, acids and chances of constipation. One can also enjoy ginger tea or juices to get rid of bloating and constipation problems.

Pregnant women should also drink more juices and soups as that not only provide liquid to the body, but also they increase the fiber content. One should drink the soups when they are warm and fresh on the other hand, the pregnant women may drink fruits or vegetable juices when they are at room temperature or light cold.
