Complications of Caesarean Section Risks ProcedureIf the caesarean section operation becomes necessary, the patient has to evaluate the risks and benefits of the proper procedure of caesarean section. It would be better if the patient already know about the pros and cons of the surgery and how it will be completed. She should know about the possibilities of side-effects and chances of success. In general, the benefits related with the caesarean operation outweigh the risks involved with the surgical operation of caesarean operation. Yet, irrespective of all technical advantages and development, the natural normal births are always more advantageous for both mother and the child without any doubt being raised about it. Operation of Caesarean is a major surgery and with all the medical and technological improvements, there are some risks involved with the surgery. Normal estimations suggests that after a normal birth, the risk of death is less than one in ten thousand women. On the other hand, the estimated risks of death after the birth through caesarean section are about one after every 2,500 such cases. Obviously, normal births are safer. Yet, in some cases such as cardiac problems, the normal birth may become much more risky than the birth through caesarean section surgery. Some of the common risks that a baby may face after his or her birth through a caesarean section operation are breathing problems, premature birth, fetal injury, low apgar scores, affected anaesthesia levels that are considered as attendant problems and causes death risks for the baby during the time of birth. Mothers also face certain risks and these risks are too much blood loss, decreased bowel function, infection, longer medical stay and risks involved with additional surgeries, blood clots, respirational complications, injury on the bowel or bladder, reactions o anaesthesia are some of these risks that are faced by mothers undergoing caesarean surgery. Irrespective of all these risks involved, if the surgeon and attendants take proper care and adopt all precautions during the surgical operation, the caesarean operation can be completed with relatively much higher safety than any other surgical operation. Yet, in spite of all precautions, the time of delivery is increased and furthermore, the recovery time of the mother is also prolonged than a normal delivery. Some of the major concerns for mothers going through caesarean surgery are maternal death, heavy blood loss, infection, nausea, and vomiting, severe headache after the delivery, as well as blood clot in a vein. The complications can be counter balanced through further precautions during the times of surgery and after the surgery. Certain risks affect the child too and these are lung immaturity, neonatal care, and getting bruised up during the course of delivery. Expert gynaecologists and surgeons can easily control these risks during the period of delivery if they pay utmost care during the operation. In general, most of the women recover after the caesarean surgery, the only thing is, they need more proper care, rest and time for mitigating the effects of surgery on their body. |
