Birthing Choices: Hypnobirth

There are already a number of birthing choices that women could choose from to suit her needs, security, safety, and setup. One of these choices is hypnobirth. This method has been one unique method that man’s science has developed. This method has created so much talk because of its unique method of allowing the mother to go through giving birth with ease compared to other previously accepted methods such as caesarian delivery, water birth, etc.

The main goal of hypnobirth is to aid the mother to enter and exit the state of hypnosis at her own free will. Unlike what you have read in books or seen in the movies, the pregnant mother does not become unconscious. She does not also lose control over her mind and body. Instead, this allows the mother to be fully aware and fully in control of her body, thereby enabling her to avoid any untoward reactions or complications during the birthing process.

If you have any previous encounter with the principles and processes of hypnosis, you will notice that the first thing to be achieved is a state of full relaxation of both mind and body. When the body is relaxed, the processes of the body (e.g., blood circulation, metabolism, and breathing) are kept at a minimum level. Therefore, there are fewer chances of profuse bleeding, tachypnea, hypoxia, etc. In addition, since the body used up only a small amount of energy and undergone only a minimal amount of damage, the recovery period will not take that long compared to other delivery methods.

Looking into the process intra-operatively, when the body is in state of relaxation, the muscles are fully relaxed as well, thereby making it easier for passage of the baby. When you compare this aspect to that of other methods, the chances of mothers undergoing panic is high, which makes muscles of your pelvic area contract. When your muscles are contracted, they hinder smooth passage of the baby. This also makes it more difficult for the medical team to maneuver the baby. Cases of panic or nervousness will also distract the mother from focusing on what needs to be done and what she is being instructed to do during delivery.

The method of hypnobirth is not only beneficial for mothers during delivery. It also incorporates its principles to help the mother bond with her baby even during pregnancy. This will include talking with the baby, singing, and even reading books and poems to the baby while it is still inside the womb. This method makes you feel the beauty of preparing for birth instead of scaring you for a very painful or traumatic event.

Once you choose to use this method, you will undergo classes to help prepare you for the actual experience of delivery. You will learn how to relax/calm yourself before, during, and even after delivery. Hypnobirth gives millions and billions of women the chance to experience delivering their babies without any fear or doubts. You no longer have to hide underneath the cloth of section just to avoid the pains of normal delivery. Mothers can now have that confidence to give birth without actually going to the hospital.
