Birthing Chair Supports Back During Labor!

Gaining adequate support for the mother during giving birth is vital in ensuring successful delivery of the baby. There may be various positions that can be used by the mother during delivery; however, the use of the birthing chair has been a widely accepted and used method for centuries already to aid the mother in giving birth. Although the structure of the chair has been too simple in the past, many changes have been done in order for it to meet the demands of a mother’s childbirth process.

Since mothers would contract their muscles of the back in order to gain or build up enough abdominal strength and pressure to push the baby out during labor, the birthing chair would be a great help to aid this action. Just like a regular chair, the birthing chair has a backrest which is slightly slanted to facilitate adequate back support, breathing and lung expansion, and a position for pushing also.

It also has armrests and a sturdy handle that can help the mother in gripping and acquiring additional strength during the pushing stage of the childbirth process. The chair is round and wide enough to provide support for the pelvis. The only obvious difference that it has to your regular chairs is the hole in the center of the seat, which will serve as the passage for the baby while the mother is adequately supported and rested.

Just like seats that you can usually see in offices or in spa parlors, the birthing chair has a backrest that can be adjusted to either increase your upright position or recline and provide more back support as needed during the labor stage. If ever the need for a lying position is needed, the backrest can easily be adjusted to provide such a position without any tedious adjustments.

With the help of the birthing chair, the mother is surely at ease that she gets adequate comfort, support, and empowerment during labor. She does not need to worry about getting transferred to a delivery table if ever she does not get the needed amount of strength while being seated. Right after a successful delivery, she does not need to worry about having back pains due to muscle strain because of not having enough back support during labor as well.
