Adoption Records

In most of the cases the search for the records of the adopted baby, regarding their birth parents and the adopted parents becomes an impossible stuff.

Defining adoption records

The adoption records of a child may contain the following information about the child:

  • The birth certificate of the adopted child.
  • The necessary documents of the court.
  • The paperwork done by the adoption agency that preceded the adoption procedure.
  • Any of the work done by the adoption lawyer.

Different states vary in the laws regarding the privacy of the records related to adoption procedure. If you are looking for any such records of an adopted child them your first step must be to know all the laws of your state regarding the privacy of such documents.

Laws for adoption

There are different laws for adoption around the world. There are some records that may be only private records. Those records could not be displayed in the public on any normal request. These laws may include:

  • The adoption consent: This right of adoption consent is held by the natural parents of the child to be adopted.
  • Eligibility: The person who had applied for the adoption must eligible according to his state government for the adoption.
  • Putative fathers: Theses are the rights of the natural father of the child to be raised for adoption by his birth mother.
  • Laws for the safety of the infant babies.
  • The contact information of the birth and the adopted parents.

Closed Vs. open records

From very long ago a debate is their on weather the adopted child must be able to access his or her adoption records. Many of the states do not allow the adopted child to access their adoption records.

Only a few states law gives the grants to the adopted child to see his adoption records. These may even include the contact information of their natural parents.

Positives facts regarding the adoption records

Some people who believe that the records must be accessible refer to only the records that may not let the child to meet the natural parents. They believe that this could become a threat to the life of the birth parents.

Negative facts

Some people had always believed that the adoption records must not be accessible to the adoptees. For their thoughts they give the following reasons:

  • The natural parents of the child must not want to be named.
  • Many people say that more people would opt for abortion if these records would be made public.
  • Many of the parents across the world rise up their child for adoption due to the unplanned pregnancy.
  • Some people however say that these records must be accessible only after the mutual consent of both the natural and the adopted parents.

Still if the adoption records are not public according to the state laws then if you are so must excited for those records there are some other records also present for you.
