Adopted Baby Development Problems

Problem related to the development of an adopted baby is not a common issue among the babies.

Signs of problems related to development

In the common cases the adopted baby is their first ever baby in their life. In such kind of cases these parents got to know about the problem only when it has gone out of their control.

If you are able to detect their development problems at an early age then it would be more beneficial for you and your child.

Do trust your instincts: You should always try to trust your instincts if you want to serve as an ideal parent. Always contact to your pediatrician if you feel that some thing is going wrong with your adopted baby. If not satisfied from one of the pediatrician then go for seeking advice from some more pediatricians. Never ever feel shy to seek an advice for your baby. After all you are the only advocate for your child!

Sudden changes: Speak to the doctor regarding any kind of the changes in your child’s life that you may think is not good for his development. It would be due to any kind of event that may have occurred in his life. Always maintain a proper record regarding the development of your baby so that you may be able to produce it to your doctor for a better treatment.

Delay in any kind of physical ability: Some children may take some more time to develop walking or crawling ability than the others. You may consult your doctor for this problem as soon as possible.

Delay in speaking skills: In this case also some children speak at an earlier age while some of them take more time that the previous ones. In the cases where your child is able to understand you properly but is not able to respond to you then this may be a problem related to the development.

According to a federal act of 1986 it is necessary to provide the children below the age of three years with necessary measures at a much reduced rates or free of cost. This act was in accordance with the disabilities education act. These children must be given some form of physical, speech or occupational therapy.

You may be provided with a referral from your pediatrician to obtain these rights. There are also some hotlines available for these kinds of problems.

Expectations

These kinds of problem related to the development of your child may due to any of the reasons.

Psychological separation: This is a very common issue among the adopted baby. Even the new born babies have to been proved to face these problems. This problem may get worsened in the case of an older child.

Attachment difficulties: The baby may face to attach emotionally to their adoptive parents. These kinds of problem may be resolved only with the due concern of the whole family.
