Toddler Separation AnxietyThere is a common problem that perhaps all the parents of this world have either faced in their time or are facing now. And that is toddler separation anxiety. This is one of the problems that parents of newborn babies or babies who are a few months old have to face. There are times when you cuddle up with your baby for a long time. You may sit with your baby for a long time and play with him to make him happy. However, when you try going out of the room without taking him or her along with you, they start crying and all that you are left with is the wonder as to how a baby who was happy a few moments ago started crying. Well this is a classic problem which needs to be dealt with a classic touch. There are times when you will want to have some privacy with your partner and even if you have put your baby to sleep, it will tart crying on waking up on account of the fact that it does not see either of its parents near him. The problem of anxiety of not being with either parent is only faced in the initial growing up years of the baby. This problem is limited and is mostly because of the fact that parents mean the most to babies during their initial years. All that they see around them are their parents and when they see that no one is around to take care of them, they get anxious and start crying. Mostly it has been seen that this problem lasts till the first day of school. After that, every thing returns to normal. Your baby gets interested in the new surrounding and the happenings that take place on a day to day basis. The baby may start crying on the day that you drop him or her at the school too. But never go back and hug your child at this moment. Make sure to walk away and allow the child to get a taste of the real world. As for the parents who have smaller babies and there is a loot of time before they start going out to their respective schools, there are a number of things that can be done. Experts suggest taking a number of steps to make sure that the baby does not miss you that much. If you think that you are spending a lot of time with your baby, so much so, that all that the baby sees is you throughout the day limit your time with the baby. Allow other members of the family to be with the baby too. This will make him acquainted with the other members of the family and him or she will want to spend time with them too. Further, another very intelligent thing to do is to make sure that the baby is kept busy in some sort of a game. You can get ding dongs, cubes, dolls etc to make sure that your baby is engaged in some sort of an activity and is not always after you to be with. |
