Toddler Food

Improving Toddler Food Habits

Toddler’s food differs a bit from the food we give to an infant. You would be surprised by the eagerness of a toddler with which he tries new things out from a solid food. He may love eating carrots as he loved applesauce.

Changing appetites

When the toddler begins to eat solid food he is having a great adventure in having new tastes. He could not wait to join other family members when he just sat and saw them eating. This may a reason for him for trying new food.

Rather after a few months he would pay more attention on the texture and taste of the food he is being offered. He starts pushing the food back from his mouth that earlier he would have loved to eat. He throws all the food back which he would not love to eat. This is the time when the problem would occur.

Toddler Food Problems

It is very important to ensure a balanced diet for your toddler. He needs a well balanced and nutritious diet for his mental and physical growth. So you must be sure that he is getting all the necessary and the required nutrition.

There is variety of food available for your toddler like fruits, vegetable and grains. He would be fine as long as he is getting such kind of toddler food. The foods which the toddler had refused much not make a fuss among your self.

The problem is that he is trying to realize that what he likes and what he dislikes. Never ever force him to eat a particular food he does not want to eat. Indeed, try your self something new.

Calcium is one of the most important nutrients for toddler’s development. Make sure that your toddler is having sufficient amount of milk for calcium intake. You may have been told by your doctor that you may stop breast feeding your kid after one year. But it is great if you are still feeding your child! But if it is not so then make sure that you give your toddler a whole milk rather than low fat skimmed milk. Generally babies does not drink milk more than a cup. To overcome this give your baby milk through bottles. If now also he is refusing to drink milk, then try to improve the taste of the milk by making some formulas. He would start drinking milk for the good taste.

Bring on the Mess!

It would be good if your toddler feeds himself, rather it would add up your clean up time. However, be patient. Ultimately, the toddler will stop throwing food on you and the floor, as this would not be a thrill for him till now. Always try to offer a variety of food to him. Indeed you would found that he is having a better food by feeding himself on his own. Even he would be happier to eat food on his own. Just go ahead and see how the eating habit of you toddler improves.
