Help for Pregnant Moms Who Can't Work and Need Money

Pregnant and unable to work can be a great problem but then there are different sources like the state aide, federal aide etc which assist you financially until you get work.

Which are the programs funded by federal aides?

Rendered jobless due to pregnancy the birth of the baby can become a costly affair what with the rise in the doctor’s bills, hospital bills, prenatal care etc.

The federal government has a number of programs to assist women of the lower strata financially but then you need to qualify for this assistance. Most of these funded programs do not handover cash but assist you in paying your rent, electricity bills, grocery bills etc if you follow the norms set by them. The first criterion to qualify for federal aide is being pregnant and jobless.

What is women, infants and children program (WIC)?

WIC is a program that receives grants from the state government or the federal government. The WIC takes care of your nutrition i.e. it helps you financially by assisting you pay off your grocery.

What is HUD assistance? U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers aide programs for lower income strata people:

  1. You need to hunt for a house and later on apply for assistance through the office of the management this is also known as privately owned subsidized housing scheme.
  2. Public housing: Here you have to meet the local agencies to help you out with your housing programs.
  3. Housing choice voucher program: As a tenant you can hunt out a house and pay the rent using the vouchers with the consent of the landlord as well as the housing agency.

Medicaid

This is a health insurance policy which starts with prenatal checkups and helps pays your doctor’s bills, hospital bills etc though the funds are not given to you directly.

LIHEAP or Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

This program is funded by the federal government and helps pay off your electric bills and the eligibility criteria depends upon your place of residence.

Food Stamps

This program is basically for the low income group wherein a card is allotted once every month and you can buy selected groceries with this card.

Government Aide for pregnant moms

Rural Assistance Center and State Human Service Agency are two healthcare centers providing financial assistance to non-working pregnant moms. Other than the above two mentioned healthcare centers there are many charitable trusts and organizations which provide assistance to non-working pregnant moms.

Ways to generate cash?

Though most of the funded agencies take care of your financial problems you may still be in need to hard cash and for this you can be innovative as well as creative.

You can arrange for a garage sale to discard things that are no longer required. You can get items listed on the Internet sites where you can easily sell your goods.

You can always share your life experiences e.g., your marriage, pregnancy or for that matter childbirth etc on blogging sites and earn some money. Taking up service oriented jobs wherein you can prove your skills like: baby sitting, house sitting, dog walking etc can help you can earn cash too.
