California Maternity Leave Bests Rest of Nation

One of the best laws helping women get maternity leave can be found in the California law books which include Paid Family Leave. The Federal law protects women seeking maternity leave. But then this leave is provided if as a mother to be you are incapable of doing one such essential work without actually risking your life or that of the unborn baby.

The law further states that you can get a position with equal pay and other benefits if the doctor has asked you to reduce your workload which the employer has to accept and accommodate. However the employer need not pay during the pregnancy disability leave. Apart from this The Family And Medical Leave Act (FMLA ) which came into being in 1993 has passed many laws that benefit the would-be-parents to seek maternity leave providing them with more medical as well as health benefits.

Know the California Family Rights Act

This act i.e. the CFRA allows you to extend your pregnancy leave beyond the given twelve weeks in order to bond yourself with your baby after the birth before you resume your work.

California Paid Family Leave (PFL) helps you to get a paid leave of six weeks and this law is applicable to all the employers irrespective of those companies which have fifty or more employees.
