Baby Toys - Fun Time For Your Baby

Baby Toys are a baby’s first mode of learning and entertainment. Toys become baby’s best friends and hence it is important to select the toys carefully.

A few factors which need to be considered while selecting baby toys are:

  • Safety: This is the most important factor to be considered. Toys should be safe so as to not hurt the baby while playing. They should be safe internally as well as externally.

Babies have a tendency to swallow or suck things and hence it is important that the toy should be sufficiently large so that the baby cannot swallow it and also it should be made of a material which does not harm the baby while playing. Soft plastics should be avoided since they can cause health issues to the baby. At the same time, toys made of clay, etc should not be bought since they can cause harm to the baby in the long run.

Externally, toys should be soft and without any pointed edges. This helps the baby to play without any chance of injury.

  • Entertainment: While toys should be safe, it should serve the basic purpose of providing fun! There are different types of toys which should be bought for babies of different age to entertain them.
  • Teddy bears are all time favourites for babies. They give a very soothing feeling and at the same time are soft and babies love hugging them. Dolls and animal shaped toys are other best-selling toys in the market. There are also toys which need to be keyed so that it can move on its own.
  • Educative: While the first two requirements are mandatory, this requirement is recommendatory. While some parents think that the first few years of the baby are meant for fun, it is important to note that a human being is at its creative best at the age of 7! Hence the first few years of the baby are important to nurture creativity in the baby.

There are intelligent toys in the market which make the baby think with its right mind and thereby improve creativity. These again need to be changed periodically as the baby grows. The only disadvantage with these toys is that the baby may get bored with it fast.

Parents sometime buy toys which the babies can use even after growing a little older. However, this should be avoided since the toy may either to be too early for the baby and quite likely unsafe or just too uninteresting!

Toys can also be clubbed with some other baby requirements like baby carrier, baby bath-tub, etc. These serves dual purpose and keep the baby occupied while performing certain routine activities.

There is a new practice of toy libraries now available in several countries. Such libraries help the parents to keep rotating the toys without buying them. The toys are provided for a couple of months and need to be replenished with other toys. This provides the babies with new toys often. Also, since these libraries are run by professionals, enough care is taken while selecting the toys so that they meet the above three criteria.

Happy Baby Toying!
