Baby Shower - Way to Celebrate Your babies Birth

World’s most beautiful feeling for a lady is to have a small beautiful/handsome child. This feeling she needs to celebrate. And this is where the concept or the subject of baby showers comes in.

What is baby shower?

When a mother gives birth to a child or is expecting, a party is thrown for this purpose. During the time of such celebrations they receive gifts from their inmates or friends. This process of receiving a gift by parents expecting a child or who already have given birth to a child is called as baby shower. Parents normally receive gifts that they need or are wanting for their child such as clothes of babies, baby carriers, etc. the main part of this baby shower is receiving of gifts.

History of baby showers

This process of baby showers originated in United States. Traditionally it was not followed but slowly and eventually it is now practiced in almost all parts of the world. It has now become a tradition. In past years it was a function of only woman’s. But as things have progressed, it has now become a function of both the genders- male as well as female. This process of baby showers moved from United States to Jewish people where the gifts are not given unless the baby is born. From here it moved on to United Kingdom, France and other European countries. As we also are advancing with the world this process has now reached India. In India baby showers generally take place when woman has reached seven months of her pregnancy.

Who arranges for baby showers?

You might wonder who arranges for baby showers? You may think that obviously it has to be the baby’s parents. But no, if you are thinking so then you are at fault. It is neither the parents nor their relatives who arrange for this function. It is the parent’s friends who perform this ritual. As if this party is thrown by parents or their relatives it may not be considered good for their small little baby.

When is baby shower held?

The arrangement of baby showers differs from person to person. Some may keep this function after the baby’s birth or some may even celebrate it before its birth, while some may not even celebrate it due to various reasons. Some think that it is celebrated only when the first baby is born while some may celebrate it at the birth of every baby. Some celebrate it also for the babies who have been adopted. It all depends from person to person as it is a subjective concept.

What people do at showers?

This again is a subjective concept. The person arranging for the shower takes decision on this topic. He may include games in it or he can even have a dance party. Food, presents or some activity are a common part of this baby shower.

Thus baby shower is a modern and a good way of celebrating.
