Bleeding After PeriodShould a woman be concerned if she experiences bleeding after her period is over? This is a hard question to answer because menstruation is a complex process. One thing that many women should be aware of is that every woman’s period is different. Some women have longer periods, others have shorter periods and the amount of time between periods does very. On average most women have one period a month but the time between periods can be anywhere between 25 and 35 days. Since women’s bodies are always changing, bleeding after a period could be a change in the menstrual cycle. Most women experience at least one episode of heavy bleeding during their reproductive years. A short period of bleeding after a period is probably nothing to worry about. There are some times when women should be worried about bleeding after period. When to Get WorriedA woman should get worried if the bleeding doesn’t stop or continues over a period of days. This could be a sign of a vaginal injury or a serious health problem inside the vagina or uterus. Infections, tears, tumors, even cancer can all cause excessive bleeding or bleeding. The best course of action when excessive bleeding doesn’t stop is to see a doctor. The doctor should be able to tell what’s wrong with a vaginal or pelvic exam. Most of the problems that cause excessive bleeding are not life threatening and can be easily treated by most doctors. In some cases a simple prescription could clear up some of these problems. Another time to get worried is when the blood is discolored. Green or yellow blood for example is a symptom of an infection. Brown blood can be a symptom of an infection or pregnancy related conditions. The absence of blood clots can be a real problem because clotting is what stops the body from loosing too much blood. If clots haven’t hide time to develop that the body is bleeding too fast. Causes of Bleeding After PeriodThere are a lot of things that can cause a woman to bleed after her period should be over. A big cause of bleeding after period is stress, too much stress on the body can affect hormones which can cause bleeding. Some women may experience this symptom after trauma such as a car accident or a very stressful time in their life such as a breakup. Others may be affected by pressures at home or the office. Hormone related problems can also cause bleeding after period. Thyroid problems can affect a woman’s period because the thyroid control hormones in the body. Hormonal imbalances some of which are caused by improper diet can also cause this. Birth control including IUDs and some birth control pills can also bleeding after period. Birth control pills can affect bleeding after period because they work by affecting the body’s hormonal balance. Some women might be able to eliminate or reduce bleeding after period through changes in their diet such as the use of natural supplements. These can affect the body’s production of hormones which can cause or prevent bleeding after period. |
