The Whirlwind of Labor and Childbirth

They call labor and childbirth a miracle for a reason. It is a miracle that not more people get hurt or damaged in the whole process. It is filled with bizarre occurrences that you had no idea about until it was too late. Bodies are going through changes. Minds are going through changes, heck, everything is getting ready to change. There are so many details that you have to concern yourself with the entire time leading up to labor and childbirth that when it finally hits you it can all seem too much. Breathe, you will be all right.

So if you are the mother your body has been doing all of this freaky stuff for the past nine months. If you are like any hormonal mother-to-be the body this alone is enough to set you into a tailspin. So you finally have gotten accustomed to the fact that you can’t see your feet when all the sudden your uterus starts doing calisthenics without your permission. If this is your first pregnancy these calisthenics in your mind are it! So you load up your car and head to the hospital only to find that no, no in fact it isn’t it and it could not be it for several more weeks. Great, now you have a nursery with a half put together crib that needs to be finished before giving birth but your uterus is going to run a mini-marathon in the meantime. Worst of all is that you’re supposed to be relaxed during all of this!

If you are looking for some soothing reassurance your family or partner might not be the best option. They are going through their own drama. It can be traumatic for children to deal with the fact that they are going to have to share their parents’ attention with a new baby. These feelings can be brought to an all time high with all these false labor scares. Let’s be honest though, if you are a first-time mother it could be your significant other that is having to deal with the thought of having to share time. It is not all that uncommon for fathers to be jealous of the relationship between a mother and a new baby.

Tensions are high with all the false starts, emotions, and duties that have to be done to get ready for a baby. Even so, you have finally gone into labor and made it to the hospital. Now is time for all the rigors of childbirth. Childbirth is not pretty. It is not always fast and it is almost always painful. You can learn a lot about people from how they handle live birth. Methods in giving childbirth are just as varied as all the advice you will get when it comes to babies. You can use a midwife or a doctor or both.

After all the changes to your body and life and all the pain the moment that a baby comes into this world is the minute that you understand why you went through it all. It is this miracle that makes labor and childbirth worth it.
