Herbs For Labor InductionMother’s for years have been in search of the magic elixir that induces labor naturally. The search includes things like walking, sex, nipple manipulation, all of which are sounding pretty fun, much better than a painful medical procedure or injection. There are also rumors of eating spicy foods to induce labor. One of the more controversial methods according to doctors are herbs for labor induction. Herbs that help you prepare your uterus for birth are much easier to find than herbs that are actually supposed to induce labor. Some of these are herbs are supposed to be effective in toning your uterus and helping it to prepare for the rigors of childbirth. Red raspberry leaf tea is a uterine toner that has been used for years by Native Americans. Other herbs like motherwort stimulate the uterus and can also help in alleviating hypertension. Partridge berry not only tones the uterus but it also is supposed to relax the uterus and aid in cramps. Most of the herbs known are to tone, relax and or stimulate the uterus. There are only a few herbs that are known to actually induce labor instead of just helping condition and prepare the uterus so that the uterus will trigger labor because it is ripe. Black and blue cohosh are herbs that are as famous as they are infamous. There is much controversy in using these herbs and is best to do your homework about these herbs before using them. Consulting your doctor may not be a bad idea but they will probably advise you against it. Articles in recent times have claimed that both cohosh herbs could have abortifacient properties and could be as dangerous to the mother as it is to the baby. Some reports are suggesting that it should not be allowed to be bought or sold as an over the counter product. The cohosh is purported to actually encourage or strengthen contractions. Some claims are that the herb can actually bring contractions on. It is taken in a tincture form. This tincture can be made alcohol or water based. The dosage depends on the variation of cohosh that you are using. The reality is that no one is quite sure what black or blue cohosh does to induce labor or not. There have not been many tests conducted on cohosh or any other herb and its properties. Because of this all of this information should be used wisely. Research this and any other herb yourself don’t just rely on what you may have heard. You have to use all herbs with care and it is important that you follow the instructions and indications. Herbs are can have powerful effects both good and bad. Some herbs can make pre-existing conditions worse. High blood pressure is an excellent example of a condition that can be made worse by ingesting certain herbs. Because high blood pressure is a common concern with expecting mothers it is important to take note of this when ingesting herbs for any reason whether or not its herbs for the induction of labor. So as with all things that you ingest, do your homework and take with caution! |
